Tooth decay can occur in all kids and if left untreated, can lead to toothache and necessitate early removal of their baby teeth. As some baby teeth ideally need to stay in your child's mouth until they are 10-12 years old, this can cause problems with the positioning of their adult teeth (which can require complex orthodontic treatment to fix).  

At Burns Bay Dentistry we aim to create a positive experience with kids' first dental appointments as a negative experience can affect them for the rest of their lives. We recommend that parents bring their kids in for their first dental check up at around 3 years of age as this is when all of their baby teeth have come through.
